On February 25, 2022 students at the University of Oxford organised a symposium on sexual violence and power in higher education.

Transcripts and other material for the conference will be published in the coming weeks. In the meantime, material from the conference can be found below.

We partnered with Lighthouse Books, a queer feminist bookseller based in Edinburgh, to offer a virtual bookshop featuring many of the books from which we have drawn inspiration and strength. We’ve also set up a pay-it-forward scheme. If cost is prohibitive for you, you can use the code SPEAK-UP- SOLIDARITY to receive a book (or books!) for free.

For our remote participants during the event and for our in-person participants at our reception, we commissioned a piece of art from Sage Goodwin that could serve as a colouring exercise. We believe art is an important part of responding to sexual violence, and that we meed practice self-care and community care as part of any holistic activism.

We believe codes of conduct are foundational for all conferences and similar events, and invested a great deal of time and energy in creating one that was short and simple but comprehensive. We encourage everyone to inquire before attending events if there is a code of conduct, and to always ask for codes which clearly define harassment and misconduct, how to report it, and, if possible, indicate how harassment will be dealt with.

Transcripts, visual notes, and other material will be forthcoming.
